The best places in which to sell your books

When considering the places in which you will sell your books, first think about the people who will buy them and where they shop. Do they shop in supermarkets? Gift shops? Airport stores? Discount stores? Pet stores? That is where your books should be.

This is a question every indie author asks. When it came time to release my first book, I wanted to cast the widest net possible but also have high quality print production. There are a few must have channels you have sell you books on. KDP by Amazon and IngramSpark are a must.

Amazon will be around 85% plus of your sales most likely. You also have to decide if you want Amazon exclusive ebook distribution. There are benefits but you can't publish you ebook on any other platform such as Kubo, Nook, and so on.

IngramSpark is needed to get your books in bookstores as they are 800lb gorilla behind the industry where supplies most books stores.

For digital distribution you might want to look at Draft2Digital. They are distribution vendor that allows you publish ebooks once and they push it the top ebook platforms at no cost. They take a small commission for each sale. There are two things remember. They don't work with Google and I recommend keeping Amazon separate.

In terms of print production there is really is no difference between Amazon, ImgramSpark and B&N. They all use the same printer network. I personally think Amazon is the easiest to setup and work with for print. IngramSpark has very specific guidelines for print files. I have a print production background the supported file format standards are quit old. There are work arounds.

    I hope this helps.
